Toasted Sesame Kale

This delicious Kale recipe was passed onto me from my mentor and friend, Donna Sonkin, who adjusted it from a friend of hers. It is my favorite way to prepare Kale. I never tire of it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Cook Time: 5 minutes!               Serves: 4


  • 1 bunch of kale
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts
  • 2 Tablespoons Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Organic, Low-Sodium, Wheat-Free Soy Sauce (San-J Tamari, Platinum label)


  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
  • Tear the leaves away from the stems and into  smaller pieces (it’s very therapeutic!), and chop or tear the stems into 1 inch pieces
  • Boil or steam the stems for 1-2 minutes, then add the kale leaves for an additional 2-3 minutes
  • Drain the Kale, and add the remainder of the ingredients to taste (you may add more or less than the measured amounts given, just don’t overdo!)

The benefits of eating leafy greens are innumerable, but here are a few advantages to ponder:

  • Improved circulation
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Promotion of healthy intestinal flora
  • Improved liver, gall bladder and kidney function
  • Cleared congestion
